How do I remove citronella candle wax from waterproofed fabric?

The other day we accidentally spilled hot wax from a burning citronella candle onto the side of one of our garden furniture cushions. I’m afraid to try and iron it out in the “traditional” cleaning method because of the citronella oils in the wax (I don’t want to remove the wax but leave a grease stain on the cushion.) The fabric is light green colored and is most likely cotton treated with some sort of waterproofing material. The cushions are able to be unzipped so we can remove the upholstered cover from the cushion. Thanks for your help!
