Easter Sunday Meals

What is a decent red wine to serve with Italian food?
I’m having guests for dinner on Sunday which is Easter. Since some of them are Jewish, I decided that going Italian is the best food choice since ham is the traditional Easter Meal. But I need advice on wine.
I’m planning to serve chicken parmagiana and stuffed manicotti.
Since you don’t say what you’re having, a good Sangiovese would be good. It’s not too heavy and it pairs well with most foods.
Sangiovese is the base grape for Chianti and there are some really good ones. If you want a domestic, try the Andretti. Of course Mario, being born in Italy, is true to his roots and has produced a fantastic wine.
Italy also produces some great ones sold as a varietal, and also as Chianti. I would stay away from those “cute” bottles in the wicker wraps. The wines aren’t that great and the decoration is why people by the bottle, not the wine.
