Hail damage and insurance?

I was wondering if anyone knows about hail damage and insurance. A bunch of my kids plastic toys, plastic patio furniture, garden hose and stuff like that was damaged – big holes straight thru. Should we expect to receive the full amount of money to replace them from our insurance? What do you think? We also have a wooden swing set $1500 that has hail damage to the wood – splintered pieces and big dents where the hail hit it. What would they do with that? We also need a new roof which I know is covered minus our deductible. Any info would be helpful.
We have hail damage coverage so I know they will cover some of this. We will talk with our adjuster, but was wondering what your experience was. Thanks everyone. Keep the answers coming!

Personal property – stuff – is only covered for damage from hail, if the hail FIRST broke through the wall/roof of the building in which it was being stored.

So, stuff that CAN be moved inside, or wouldn’t stay with the house when you sell it – like toys and plastic furniture – isn’t going to be covered for damage by hail. Things used for maintenance of the premises, like the hose, or maybe a lawnmower, WOULD be covered for damage by hail, and of course, any structures (the wooden swing set, gazebos, garages, sheds) would also be covered for damage by hail, subject to your deductible.

Assuming you have replacement cost coverage, you get the lesser of, cost to repair, or cost to replace. If it has to be replaced, you get the DEPRECIATED value up front, minus your deductible, for the COVERED property, and after you replace it you send in the receipts, and then get the rest of the money.

It’s going to take an expert, about the repair or replace on that swingset.

Keep in mind, any payment for your STRUCTURE, like your roof, is going to be made out jointly to you and the mortgage company – so you won’t be able to cash that check.
